Job Overview

Fema Mining and Drilling Limited is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Fuel Bowser Operator to join our mining operations team in Katoro, Geita. The Fuel Bowser Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and refueling of fuel bowser equipment to support mining activities. This role requires strict adherence to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Operation of Fuel Bowser: Safely operate fuel bowser equipment to deliver fuel to mining vehicles and machinery at designated sites.
• Refueling Management: Ensure accurate and timely refueling of equipment, maintaining proper fuel levels and avoiding operational delays.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines, including proper handling of fuel, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and compliance with environmental and mining regulations.
• Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections, cleaning, and basic maintenance of the fuel bowser to ensure optimal performance and report any mechanical issues promptly.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of fuel dispensed, equipment usage, and maintenance activities as per company procedures.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with the mining team and supervisors to coordinate refueling schedules and ensure operational efficiency.
• Incident Reporting: Immediately report any spills, accidents, or safety concerns to the Project Supervisor and follow incident management protocols.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Education: Minimum of a Secondary School Certificate; a valid driver’s license (Class D or equivalent) is mandatory.
• Experience: At least 2 years of experience operating fuel bowsers or similar heavy equipment in a mining or industrial environment.
• Certifications: Valid certification in fuel handling or hazardous materials management is an added advantage.
• Introduction Letter from Local Government Authority.
• Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of fuel handling safety procedures and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to perform basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physically fit to handle the demands of the role, including working in outdoor conditions.
• Other Requirements:
  • Willingness to work in shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Ability to work in a remote mining environment in Katoro, Geita.
  • Fluency in English and Swahili is preferred.

Working Conditions

• The role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions and may require extended shifts in a mining environment.
• Exposure to fuel, dust, and noise; adherence to safety protocols and PPE usage is mandatory.
